Product description
In 2000 started an educational process that, in Italy, led to a cultural, educational and healthcare revolution in the area of neoplastic bone disease, and resulted in the creation of a new discipline, Osteo-oncology, so-called because it focuses on primary and metastatic bone tumors and also on bone health during antitumor treatment.
The main aims of the Osteo-oncology project are to promote the setting up of multidisciplinary osteo-oncology centers for the diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of cancer-related bone disease and also to carry out active research into this area. Multidisciplinary theoretical-practical educational programs, including those at university level, have been organized in Italy and abroad to train physicians (osteo-oncologists) and other healthcare operators in this new discipline.
Although information on neoplastic bone disease abounds in the literature, it tends to be confined to articles dealing with certain diseases and specific disciplines. It was thus decided to put all these information into a textbook in order to provide a complete reference guide (care, research, training) for osteo-oncologists.
